17th Century Succotash

Want to try a yummy traditional Thanksgiving recipe- straight from the pilgrims themselves? I made this today for a little traditional "Thanksgiving feast" we are having for school tomorrow. It's really good! I actually couldn't stop eating it. I will make this again- just to eat all by myself.

Succotash

2 c. corn
2 cans of beans (I used kidney & northern. I think the recipe originally called for lima & kidney)
1 Tbsp oil
1 small diced onion
4 slices bacon
water
a few Tbsp of flour or corn meal
salt & pepper to taste

In a large frying pan, cook onions & bacon until done. Add corn & beans. Saute for a few minutes. Season with salt & pepper. Add water to cover the beans. Thicken with flour or corn meal. Simmer until thickened.
