Valentine Mug Cookies

I had fun experimenting with this recipe.  I saw in a magazine somewhere a cookie that was perched on a mug of hot chocolate.  Apparently, there is a special cookie cutter that you can buy to make these, but I did it very easily on my own.

Make some sugar cookies- my favorite recipe is below.

Roll out the dough and cut into heart shapes.

Bake the cookies.  Just out of the oven, cut a little slit out of the cookie.  I tried doing it before, but they all grew back together while baking.  You have to be very careful not to crack the cookie.

Cool and decorate.  I used some store-bought poured cookie icing. It hardens.

Put your cookies on a mug of milk or hot chocolate to enjoy.  Dip - for best results!

Quick & Yummy (No-Chill) Sugar Cookies

1/2 c. Shortening
1/2 c. Butter
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
4 tsp. milk
3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt

Cream butter and sugar.  Add milk eggs, vanilla baking powder, baking soda, and salt.  Mix well.  Slowly add flour and mix until combined.  No need to chill.  Roll out and cut into shapes.  Bake @ 350 degrees for 9-12 minutes.
