this trifle the other day, I failed to mention the amazing pound cake recipe that I used. This is another recipe from my gourmet grandma chef! Thanks Mimi for all of the recipes we inherited from you!!!
It is so delicious topped with fruit. It was amazing in the trifle, too.
1 c. shortening
1 2/3 c. sugar
1 1/2 Tbsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp almond extract
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp salt
Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs one at a time and beat each one as added. Add lemon juice and almond extract. Beat well. Add dry ingredients. Bake in a greased loaf pan @ 325 degrees for 70 minutes.
